The pieces within this section deal with one or more of the areas of education, arts and mental health promotion. They include a number of different perspectives on the ways in which participatory arts and mental health promotion within schools can contribute to the wellbeing of children and young people.

Different Approaches

Different Approaches, Shared Goals explores some of the theoretical links between education, arts and mental health promotion for children and young people within schools and communities.

Working Together

When artists, teachers and health professionals work together they can help young people “join the dots” between creative activity and their wellbeing at school, at home, and within their communities.

Artists’ Stories

Stories can sometimes be the greatest teachers: in this section, artists who have worked with the Festival for Healthy Living and other wellbeing programs share their individual stories and experiences.

Children & Young People

Where are young people and children “coming from”? What interests them? What is important to them? What do they want to create? Education and health professionals share their knowledge and insights with artists.

Planting & Harvesting

Planning for projects within the Festival for Healthy Living takes place on many different levels, from classroom workshop plans on a micro level to the macro-planning between partner organisations.

Artists’ Wellbeing

It’s sometimes easier said than done, but it is important for artists working in schools and communities to understand the factors that affect their own wellbeing and to exercise self-care.
